During the month of November, The Real Wife Movement™ will be featuring stories from military wives. These brave veterans or active duty women will share their stories of military and marriage.

1996…. A long time ago, I was a young soldier just arriving in Ft. Campbell, KY. I was far from home and alone, but eager to meet and make new friends and I did just that! The very next day after my arrival, this tall, coffee brown, handsome soldier showed up! But it wasn’t a dream come true…

To be honest, when we met, he didn’t even like me at all, and I was actually engaged to someone else. But time went by, my engagement was over and he became my very best friend.

After about a year and a half, things started to change between him and me. Although he was assigned to a different unit, we spent a lot of time together.
In spite of the crazy military life, there was a love developing

between us. PT, Air Assault Training, him working at the motor pool and me being all the way on the other end of the base at the air field, schedules would be crazy, yet we always found a way to just be us. Meeting up for meals at the mess hall, (cafeteria), church, of course, and when we had down time after the work day.
December 1997, Christmas Day, we were to spend the day with his family, out of town. Needless to say, he got down on one knee in front of the Christmas tree, and he proposed, and my life was forever changed! 18 years later, we’re still happily married.
True love still exist, EVEN in the military.

I love that they kept their love alive even through the distance and stress of being in the military. I like that they first started off as friends.
I love this series. A great way to showcase these incredibly amazing folks. Thank you.

Love this series. It’s my first time seeing it.
I am sure military life and being married are both hard and then you put them together. Glad to see a strong and tight bond.
Great story, I love happy endings.
What a great, and sweet love story! Crazy to think that she was engaged to someone else, and that he didn’t even like her at the time that they met! God works in mysterious ways!
this was a great read and really inspires me to keep my love alive
This is such a beautiful story! Thank you so much fo rinspiring us with your love story.
I love to find couples who are making it work in spite of the tough times.
I live near Fort Campbell and Fort Knox. We see so many of the military family in our area. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be in a military marriage, but I suppose it helps to have both partners in it together.
It is not easy being married in the military. So much is going on that is taxing on marriages.
