Read Across America Day with Chick-fil-A

I was super excited when I received the call that Chick-fil-A wanted my nonprofit Forever Free Books to partner with them for Read Across America Day.

NEA’s Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2—Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books, and you can too! I started Forever Free Books in 2013 after I saw that there were children who did not have books at home but wore $300 worth of clothes everyday to school. My mission is to place a FREE book in the hands of every child I come in contact with.

We are a mobile 501C3 noprofit, with the motto of “we go where the kids are”. We take books into communities. We partner with schools, churches, community organizations in the Washington, DC metro area.

At Read Across America, we gave away free books and we had story time. We had so much fun! My heart was happy because children were finding joy in receiving free books or their choice.

I was honored that the Charles County NAACP President and Vice President came out to support Forever Free Books.

My honey even came out after receiving my frantic call for boys who requested super-hero books. He showed up within 20 minutes and he became the super-hero of the moment for the boys who waited around for him.

A happy friend with his super-hero book!
